Each pack weighs 120g, with each piece weighing approximately 8-12g and individually packaged.
The mullet roes are a rare local delicacy, referred to as Taiwanese black gold. The individually packaged "one-bite mullet roes" have a rich and flavorful taste, are convenient to carry and consume.
Mullet roes come from the mullet fish and are a type of migratory fish that live between fresh and salt water, found in sub-tropical waters around the world. Each winter, a large number of mullets migrate south from the Yellow River mouth, following the Kuroshio Current, and when they cross the Taiwan Strait, it is during the spawning season of female mullets. As a result, the fish roes are particularly plump and full.
Mullet roes are known as "Taiwanese black gold" because mullets only come to Taiwanese waters once a year. The naturally wild-caught fish used in Hsin Tung Yang's mullet roes have a carp-like body shape, a large and flat head, a black back and a white belly, and are one to two feet long. They are extremely precious.
Only one third of the annual southward migrating mullets in Taiwanese waters are female, and their fish roes are rich in nutrients. They contain high-quality omega-3 fatty acids, which can lower blood lipids and cholesterol, and help maintain heart health. In addition, mullet roes also contain abundant proteins, vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus, which help strengthen bone health.
Hsin Tung Yang has more than 50 years of professional experience in producing mullet roes, only using wild-caught mullets and strictly processing them through washing, soaking, trimming, and sun-drying. The mullet roes are formed on a drawing board throughout the entire process, creating a special aroma. They have an orange-yellow to brownish-red color and a translucent appearance. Their egg-shaped symmetry is beautiful, with rich and uniform oil content. They have a fragrant and soft taste, and leave a lingering aftertaste in the mouth, making them unforgettable.
